Tutora — Your Right to Cancel
Last updated: 6 August 2026
You can stop using Tutora whenever you want. There is no minimum term, no notice period, no contract to see out, and no cancellation fee. This page explains how to cancel a lesson, how to close your account, and what happens to money you have already paid.
- Provider: Tutora, trading name of Tutora Tutoring Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17402829, registered office 217 Charlton Road, Harrow, England, HA3 9HT.
- Contact: tutoratutoringltd@gmail.com
1. There is nothing to cancel out of
Tutora is pay as you go. You are charged for each lesson you have confirmed, roughly 24 hours before it happens, and for nothing else:
- no subscription or membership;
- no joining fee or booking fee;
- no lesson packages or credit bought in advance;
- no minimum number of lessons.
So there is no ongoing commitment to cancel. If you stop booking lessons, you stop paying. Everything below is about the two things you might actually need to do: cancel a lesson, or close your account.
2. Cancelling a lesson
- Cancel at least 24 hours before the lesson starts and it is free — nothing is taken from your card, because the charge has not happened yet.
- Cancel less than 24 hours before, or don't attend, and the lesson is chargeable. Your tutor has held that time.
- You can also move a lesson rather than cancel it. There is no fee for rescheduling.
- If the lesson has already been paid for (because it was within 24 hours), you can still move it with your tutor's agreement and you will not pay twice. But cancelling it after that counts as a late cancellation and is not refunded, however far away the new time is — your tutor had already held the original slot. We tell you this on screen before you move it.
The full rules, including what happens when the tutor cancels, are in Terms §3 (Booking and cancellation) and Terms §4 (Payment).
3. Closing your account
Email tutoratutoringltd@gmail.com and tell us you want to close your account. You can also do this from your account settings, where that option is available.
A simple message is enough — you don't need any particular form of words. If you'd like a template:
To Tutora,
I would like to close my Tutora account and cancel any lessons I have booked.
- Name: [your name] - Email / account: [your email] - Date: [today's date]
When you close your account:
- any lesson still in the future is cancelled, and the 24-hour rule in section 2 applies to each one in the ordinary way;
- nothing further is charged;
- your data is deleted as described in our Privacy Policy, except for the financial and safeguarding records we are required to keep.
4. Refunds
- If you have paid for a lesson that has not happened and it is cancelled with the required notice, we refund it in full.
- If a tutor cancels or does not attend, you are not charged for that lesson — you can have a free reschedule or a full refund. See Terms §3.
- We refund to the same payment method you paid with, through Stripe. You will not pay any fee as a result of a refund, and we do not issue account credit instead of money.
- Refunds are made without undue delay, and typically reach your account within 5–10 working days depending on your bank.
5. Your statutory rights
Nothing on this page reduces your rights as a consumer. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 a service must be provided with reasonable care and skill; if it is not, you may be entitled to have it put right or to a price reduction, whatever our own policy says. You also keep any separate rights you have through your card provider.
If you are unhappy with how a cancellation or refund has been handled, our Complaints Procedure explains how to escalate it.
